PLANNING 7 - Considered practical issues

For my music video, I will be having two characters playing the role in order to symbolise friendship, however having two girls play the role, could result in a series of issues. One of the character, Anisa my sister, not be difficult to have her being filmed when I need to. But with the other character, Momina, who lives opposite my house, which is close yet timings of when they both are free will be difficult as they go to different schools therefore, finish different times.

Due to them also being young, they will not be able to stay up until late and especially with Momina needing to go home in order to have dinner, get homework done for school and going to bed at a specific time. Also with them going primary school, they will have a full day at school whereas, I have frees during the day or finish earlier on some days which could enable me to film the video in order to have the best lighting and weather conditions. But having to wait for them once they arrive from school and starting to film from around 4pm will mean the quality of the camera may be affected because of the sun setting earlier due to winter. During the weekends, they tend to have clubs or just are not free but only for an hour or so, making it very difficult to fit in a time to film the video.

Also the weather conditions need to be majority of the time quite dry and sunny as I will need to be filming at the park and in the garden. Having one of the characters play the role of a "girly" person I will need her to wear dresses as this expresses a lot of how the personality is. But due to the weather being wet and very cold, would mean the outfits need to be changed or a delay in the filming to start those certain scenes when the weather is best suited to the outfits. Although, the weather will not change dramatically, I will have to film regardless of the cold conditions. This however, would mean the characters may not feel comfortable and could potentially affect their role and what they need to be doing within each scene.

Both the characters are 7 year olds and so they will be quite difficult to instruct to do certain sections due to their energy level being high and patience levels very low would mean they want to get the filming done quickly in order to start playing again and mucking about, regardless of how the scenes are being filmed. They also will not understand as to how each part is vital for the completion of the video and deadlines for specific tasks. But believe it is for fun, also by having them do certain activities that they already do and know very well in, could go in two ways. They may either feel that it is not serious and they can do what they like due to the video needing to consist of activities that young girls do. But they may also feel too pressured and shy due to them being young girls, although an audience is not live watching them, but having a camera placed at the front of them could potentially constrain them.

Not having my own camera and tripod, I needed to borrow one from the school, however this would mean the quality would not be at an advanced level as it is not the latest "hi-tech" camera. Also many problems with the tripod occurred, having the camera stuck on to the wooden stand at the top of the camera and not being able to unscrew the camera off the stand, to adjusting the length in order to capture everything into the frame of the camera.
